During your next visit to the Regina Public Library Central Branch, be sure to check out the Understanding the Early Years (UEY) Regina display currently located on the library's main floor, beside the Reference Desk. The display provides the opportunity to learn some fascinating facts about early childhood development, and about local research on Regina's young children and families.
Understanding the Early Years (UEY) is a national initiative that enables members of communities across Canada to better understand the needs of their young children and families so that they can determine the best programs and services to meet those needs.
The first six years of a child's life lay the foundation for learning, behaviour, and health throughout their lifetime. Children's interactions, experiences, and relationships during this critical period leave lasting impressions that shape children's development and impact the way they think and feel into adulthood.
The Understanding the Early Years Initiative is funded by Human Resources and Skills Development Canada. For further information, visit www.hrsdc.gc.ca.
